Born 1846-01-22 in Bunde (D) to Jan Janssen Boekhoff and Tjientje Jans Kramer. Died 1896-12-16, buried in Parker (SD) (USA). Berend came to the United States with Anke in 1873. Their first son Jan died aboard the ship, and was buried when they arrived at Ellis Island. Berend became a U.S. citizen on October 31, 1876 in Hardin County, Iowa.
