Born 1784-00-00 in Heisfelde (D) to Johann (Jan) (Johannes) Janssen (Johansen) and Hilke Janssen Boekhoff. Died 1837-05-13, buried in Bunde (D). Jan was born as Johann Janssen. His mother died when he was 6 years old, and he was raised with his siblings by his uncles Hinrich and Johann Boekhoff. This is why he took the Boekhoff surname. In 1812, Jan lived in Loga with his brother Oltmann.
